Control what comes up
when somebody searches your name.
Before anyone reaches your website, they see the box on the right of the Google results — your hours, your phone number, the towns you cover, your map pin. If that listing is unclaimed or wrong, that is the first impression you are making, and you are not the one making it.
I will look up your listing live on the call and tell you what state it is in.
This is hands-on work, not software
Nothing gets installed and nothing runs in the background. It is me, sitting down and doing the work on your listing: finding it, claiming it, correcting it, and filling in the parts that are blank. Small and fast, and it is often where we start together — you can see the result in a search box within a couple of weeks.
What actually gets done
-
Find what is already out there
Often there is a listing you never made, created automatically or by a former employee. Finding it first matters — making a second one creates a duplicate, and untangling duplicates is slow.
-
Claim it, or create it properly
If a listing exists, we claim it. If there genuinely is not one, we create it correctly the first time.
-
Start verification straight away
Google verifies by postcard, phone or video. The postcard can take a fortnight, so this starts before the tidying-up work rather than after it. This is the step that sets the timeline.
-
Fill it in properly
The right primary category (this is the one that most affects whether you show up), your real hours including holidays, the towns you cover, your services, a description that sounds like you, and your own photos.
-
Point it at the right places
Your website field goes to your new site, and your phone number goes to the number you actually want ringing.
-
Check it from the outside
We search your business name in a fresh browser and confirm what a customer sees: verified, right hours, right phone, right site.
Two things I want you to know
You stay the owner. Always. I take manager access so I can do the work, and nothing more. Your listing is one of the most valuable things your business owns, and no agency should ever be holding it hostage. If you stop working with me, I remove myself and the listing stays exactly where it is — yours.
You have to do the verification yourself. Google ties it to your identity, not mine, so the postcard code or the video call is on you. It takes a few minutes, but nothing else can finish until it is done.
Where this gets slow, honestly
- A duplicate listing already exists. Merging is a request to Google and it moves at Google's pace.
- The listing is suspended. Getting it reinstated has to come first; nothing else takes effect until it is.
- Someone else holds it — an old web guy, a former partner. Transferring ownership is a request through Google and can take weeks.
- The postcard never turns up. It happens. We request it once more, then try phone or video verification instead.
None of these are unusual and none of them are fatal. They are just the reason I will not promise you a date in the first week.
Next: the listing points at your website, so it is worth the two being done together — what the build involves. And once people are calling, the lead system is what stops those calls going to voicemail. What it costs →
Want to know what your listing looks like right now?
Book thirty minutes and I will pull it up while we talk. Whether it is claimed, what is wrong with it, and what it would take to fix.
